Red light is absorbed by pigment in the hair shaft, heating up the follicle and preventing further regrowth without it damaging the surrounding skin.

Acne treatment

Blue light is used to destroy the bacteria P. acnes. This bacteria colonises the sebaceous gland and blocks it causing acne. Intense Pulsed Light irradicates the bacteria and gently heats up the skin around the spots, producing collagen that boosts the healing process.
